Eileen E. MaloneBeach, PhD - Gerontology

Brigitte Bechtold

Dr. MaloneBeach received her doctorate in Human Development and Family Studies from Penn State University. Her teaching and research address the growing older population, and assume an interdisciplinary approach to thinking critically about the quality of life for older adults in light of individual development, family and social contexts, and public policy. She has published journal articles about family caregiving to cognitively impaired elders, rural service delivery, and HIV/AIDS over 50. MaloneBeach is coordinator of the graduate certificate in gerontology and the undergraduate minor in gerontology, and is faculty advisor to CMU’s Gero Club.

Brigitte Bechtold

Brigitte Bechtold, director of the European Studies Program, is an economic sociologist and an expert on the economic impact of minimum wages. She has served on a Congressionally sponsored minimum wage study committee and has written research papers on economic forecasting and women in the economy.
